Mipo Odubeko’s Tallaght Return

6th June 2022

Returning to his hometown of Tallaght, Ireland, West Ham United striker Mipo Odubeko delivered a performance that was nothing short of fitting for the place where his journey began. In just his second appearance for the Republic of Ireland U21s, Mipo found the net with precision, scoring the team’s second goal in a confident 3-0 victory over Bosnia & Herzegovina.

The 19-year-old, who gained invaluable experience on loan with Huddersfield Town and Doncaster Rovers last season, only earned his first U21 cap in March. In the 63rd minute, he latched onto a ball lofted over the defense, driving it expertly into the bottom corner to extend Ireland’s lead.

With this win, Ireland’s U21s now sit third in Group F on 16 points—just one point behind leaders Sweden and second-place Italy. All eyes now turn to Monday’s decisive qualification match against Montenegro, as Mipo and the team continue their pursuit of excellence on the international stage.
